Regular work days
If you'd like to volunteer, just drop in to one of our regular
workdays. These are held every Sunday and Thursday from 12 to dusk,
rain or shine, all year round. You don't need to have had experience
at gardening, just a willingness to learn. Work varies according
to the season and includes the usual weeding, planting, watering
etc, as well as occasional projects like fence building, coppicing,
pond-making, shelter-building and so on. In return for your work,
you can take home a share of whatever produce is available.
Market
For fresh produce from the project, check out our stall at the farmers' and fair trade market at the Friends' Meeting House, Ship Street, on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
School Visits
We run regular weekly gardening classes with several local schools
now. Over the last 5 years we have built up 100's of hours of experience
teaching food growing, allowing children a chance to learn new skills
and gain more confidence. They also benefit from an improved familiarity
with their local landscape and its ecology, whilst enjoying time
outside of the classroom.
